Hollywood HEART actively fundraises throughout the year with events, letter campaigns, grant proposals and corporate partnerships. With a budget of nearly $260,000 to run our programming and administration, any additional projects we hope to undertake will require even more generosity from our supporters. In addition to the thousands of individuals who have given to us over the years, these very special groups have helped Hollywood HEART impact the lives of at-risk youth in Southern California: The Warped Tour In 1995, Camp Pacific Heartland learned about a new lifestyle and music tour for teens and young adults from friends at Creative Artists Agency. Together we created a way for the Warped Tour attendees to help other kids - namely, our AIDS-affected campers. By donating 25 cents from every ticket sold to Camp Pacific Heartland, the organizers of the tour made a commitment to supporting our work throughout the year. The Warped Tour (which was for some time sponsored by VANS shoes) has grown in size and popularity since then, and now counts as our biggest donor each year. Many thanks to the Warped Tour, and the many thousands of music and extreme sports lovers across the country who participate, for supporting Hollywood HEART. International Society of Hospitality Purchasers (ISHP) A brief piece about one of our gala fundraisers in Los Angeles aired by E! Entertainment caught the eye of Neil Locke, president of the International Society of Hospitality Purchasers, a hotel industry association with a nationwide membership. Neil had the great idea of combining business with philanthropy and at the next Hospitality Trade Show in New York; the ISHP threw a meet and greet party for purchasers and vendors. The vendor companies paid for the chance to meet the key people in the purchasing departments of major hotels, and after expense, ISHP donated all proceeds to Camp Pacific Heartland. The hospitality community was proud to donate to our cause, and have continued to support us in two annual fundraising events that coincide with their industry's conventions in NYC and Las Vegas. Now entering into our fourth year of partnership, ISHP has already donated more than a quarter of a million dollars to CPH/Hollywood HEART. Without the support and enthusiasm of the ISHP board and members, as well as the staff of Hospitality Design magazine who organize the annual event in Las Vegas, we wouldn’t be able to continue our efforts to enhance the lives of at-risk children in Los Angeles. |
