Hollywood HEART opens doors for at-risk youth.
Hollywood HEART brings hope, education, art, recreation, and teamwork
to children who wouldn’t otherwise have opportunities for summer camp,
movie making or life skills enhancement.
Hollywood HEART was founded in 1995 as Camp Pacific Heartland by David
Gale, Executive Vice President of MTV New Media and Specialty Films
Division, who leads an active board of directors throughout the year.
Camp Pacific Heartland successfully implemented a unique filmmaking
workshop into their summer program, which was such a hit that in
August of 2001 it became its own entity in the form of an independent
program called The Movie Team. Since The Movie Team expanded the focus
of the organization beyond children infected and affected by AIDS/HIV
to include a variety of children’s organizations, Hollywood HEART was
created to house these very different programs.
Our passionate staff includes Executive Director Lisa Cavanaugh,
Program and Marketing Director Christine Rodriguez, and Development Associate and Program Coordinator Kara Mondino.
Hollywood HEART also relies on a committed group of volunteers &
Board Members to raise funds, support camp activities, provide
professional entertainment industry experience to each filmmaking
workshop, produce exciting events and seek new ways to enhance the
lives of the children we support.
